The Rule Behind the Matrix
Red Rocks is built into a slope, so every lot delivers you to a different height of the seating bowl. Upper North drops you near the top. Upper South’s ramp brings you in lower. Lower North means climbing a long flight of stairs from below. Once you picture the venue as vertical rather than flat, lot choice becomes simple: park at roughly the same elevation as your seat.
Why Exit Speed Should Break Ties
When two lots suit your seat equally, pick the one that gets you out faster. Upper North is the most coveted lot and the slowest to escape. Upper South sits closest to Entrance 3 and clears quickest. On a sold-out night, that difference can be the full 30 to 45 minutes of the exit crawl.
The Catch: You Don’t Always Get to Choose
Parking is free and first-come, and traffic control directs you to the next available space as you enter the park. Lots open two hours before door time, and the upper lots can fill 60 to 90 minutes before showtime for popular shows.
